Mobile phone cameras

For years I have bemoaned mobile phone cameras. 5 meg this, 8 meg that - great, but all shot through a lens the size of a pinhole. Excellent for Facebook, Twitter and other social networking, blogs etc.

A phone camera doesn't deal well with extremes of light and darkness, and when you try to take the picture they never react fast enough, focus quickly enough and have a habit of demonstrating that you have taken a picture, standing naked, freezing your ass off on the South Pole;  you all know it "camera shake" Take a look at your friends FB pictures - need I say more !  Although I have recently seen for sale in my local garage, "IGloves" - yep you got it again - gloves specifically for touch screen phones...that'll help!!!

So, this week I shall be using my Iphone 4 everyday to try to dispel the above gripes and moans. There are plenty of free apps on the market and having downloaded a number it is going to be fun to discover that I may not have to carry around a hundred weight of camera equipment...hmm I will let you know at the end of the week.

As a teaser I took this image of The Brighton Eye in October on a partly bright, but overcast day. I downloaded "Snapseed" and hit the image with "Grunge" mode. The image is 1.7meg - I have to say it looked better on the camera - but hey it's the first effort.
